My idea would be a virtual board game similar to monopoly although with a focus on international culture and language learning that are interpreted through challenges.
Regarding game mechanics, the players roll a dice that enables players to move around the board (globe) which has different destinations (countries/cities). It would also include special cards for fast traveling (planes, cars, boats.
There would be special challenge cards divided into 3 kinds that are given through moving on the board. First one would be a language challenge which you would either translate a small phrase, match a proverb to its meaning or guess what a foreign word means. Moreover there would be a cultural challenge where players would answer trivia about local traditions and festivals. And finally, there would be an activity challenge where players perform a cultural activity (dances etc) for the other players to guess where its from. From these activities you gain “culture coins” which are a form of ranking. In addition, players can trade “culture coins” with each other for help or team up and split the prize for certain challenges.
Continuing, there would be random events that would either benefit or be an obstacle for the player. For example, “you lost your passport” where you’d skip a round or where you met a local so you go 2 spaces forward and such.
And for the last round there would be a “grande” challenge where players perform a skit or a phrase from another language they learned during the game.
